Kinetic Type

A typographic experiment exploring rhythm, fragmentation and motion across digital compositions.

Each letter is split into horizontal slices that respond to scroll speed and pointer position. Slow movement keeps the word readable; fast movement breaks it into rhythm. The study started as a test for a festival title sequence and grew into a small library of reusable behaviours.

Built with

  • Variable fonts with a weight and width axis
  • Canvas 2D rendering
  • Pointer and scroll input
  • Reduced-motion fallback with static frames

Everything stops animating when the visitor has reduced motion enabled, and the word remains readable at every frame.
